ROBERT J. HUGHES
Bob Hughes is on the faculty of the College of Journalism and Communications at the University of Florida. Leading graduate and undergraduate courses in Strategic Communication, Branding and Social Media, Advertising Strategy, Customer Analytics, and Introduction to Media. He also leads the Social Media/Strategic Communications Combined Capstone.
He was named the UF CJC Adjunct Professor of the year in 2023.
Additionally, Bob is on the faculty at The University of Phoenix leading classes in the Communication, Ethics and Marketing curricula.
Previously, Bob was Manager, Product Marketing for Georgia Power, heading up the marketing and communication efforts for the Electric Vehicles/Transportation and Solar/Renewables initiatives. In addition, he was responsible for FlatBill®, Budget Bill, and the Green Energy program.
He has served as the Manager of Marketing Communications for Georgia Power and was responsible for the strategic planning for all advertising, PR, and internal communications for Georgia Power’s Marketing organization.
Prior to 1996, Bob was the Company's Advertising Manager, responsible for all advertising and promotion for one of the largest electric utilities in the country.
Prior to Georgia Power, Bob was Account Supervisor for McDonald and Little, one of the largest ad agencies in the southeast.
Bob has Bachelors and Masters Degrees from the University of West Florida. The Atlanta Business Chronicle has named him “Atlanta’s Best Marketing Director”. He has also been elected President of the Atlanta Chapter of the American Marketing Association and President of Utility Communicators International.
